Library Director

Donna Olson comes to SSLDL after 13+ years at Howell Carnegie District Library, where she specialized in making community connections – partnering with local organizations, the business community, the schools, library users and nonusers alike to put library resources in the hands of the community.  Also, she honed her customer service skills as a reference & collection development librarian, event & workshop planner, and member of various community committees.  She is active in various organizations including local Chambers, Michigan Library Association (MLA) and LibraryBiz Connect. She and her husband, Chuck, live on 11 acres in Marion Twp with their "free" dog, Reggie.  The three kids, Ken, Catherine and Susan are all healthy, working and/or attending college.

Head of Information Technology

Luke Ervin has previously worked 4 years in the public school system, managing and maintaining Information Technology.  He Graduated from Baker College Flint with a Bachelors in Network Administration and Security. Luke loves spending time with his family and enjoys diving headfirst into anything cutting edge and tech related. With a passion for technology and learning new things, Luke looks forward to serving the needs of the library and its patrons as Head of IT.

Adult Services Department Head

Dee Beaver joined the SSLDL team in October 2016 as a Youth Services Librarian.  She is a graduate of Madonna University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration, and earned her MLIS from Wayne State University.  Prior to joining the Salem-South Lyon District Library, Dee worked in public school libraries.  She lives in Brighton with her husband, three children, and two Labrador Retrievers.  In her free time, Dee loves to read, knit, and spend time with her family.

Kathy M

Youth Services Department Head

Kathy Merucci has been with the Salem-South Lyon Library since June 2010 when she began working as a volunteer. She is a graduate of Michigan State University with a B.S. in Biology and earned her MLIS in May 2013 from Wayne State University. Her hobbies include photography, spending time with her family and reading mysteries.

Teen Services Librarian

Rachael Terry has been with the Salem-South Lyon District Library since 2007. She started as a shelver, then became a customer service specialist, then the teen services intern, and now she enjoys being the teen services librarian. When not at the library, Rachael likes to read, go up north and spend time with her family, friends, and dog, Clover.

Public Relations Coordinator

Lindsay Gerhardt received her degree in Public Relations from Eastern Michigan University in 2009. When she was just 14 years old, she started working here at the library as a Shelver. Upon graduating from South Lyon High School, she transitioned into a Library Clerk, and is now putting her degree to good use as the Public Relations Coordinator. In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys reading, camping, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family and yellow lab, Ruger.

Property Superintendent

Andrew Hughes was born and raised in Michigan and went to Huron High in Ann Arbor.  After a long career in the construction he came to work at the Salem-South Lyon District Library in 2002. He enjoys auto road racing, cooking, and animals.

Kathy H

Administrative Manager

Kathy Hutchinson moved to the South Lyon area in 1999 and has been employed at the Salem-South Lyon District Library since 2009.   She began as a page, then worked as a Customer Service Specialist, now she is the Administrative Manager and also manages the Unique collection process. Her main focus as a Unique Specialist is to contact patrons that have overdue library materials and attempt to remedy such accounts prior to being sent to a collection agency. Her goal is to retrieve library assets with the cooperation of the patron. She loves working with the customers and enjoys her time away from the library, gardening, kayaking, hydroplane racing, and volunteering for South Lyon High School Band Program (go band!!).
